Our story
A vision, a building site, and a handful of friends.
Driven by Purpose
Our aims
In 1992, Alice and John, a couple with a deep Christian faith, began building a school in Rukungiri, a small hilltop town in south-western Uganda. They had no large organisation behind them — just a conviction driven by their faith that the children in their community deserved somewhere to go.
Friends in the UK heard what was happening and started raising money to help. That early act of friendship practical, personal, and direct, has made the difference for thousands of children over 30 years.
it's your turn
How can you build with us?
There are several ways to get behind the work — from sponsoring a child to supporting our projects.

Our team — the people behind the work
Meet the team.
ROP is run entirely by volunteers in the UK and the team in Uganda. No trustee receives payment. Every pound given, goes to the school. These are the people who give their time to make sure it does.
